Final Project - Erina Nakayama

Have you ever been to a foreign country? If so, did you find something interesting? In the world, there are 196 countries now. They each have unique traditions, culture, and language. I have found many differences and similarities by living abroad since I left my county, Japan. For me, seeing new things from a different perspective and knowing a different culture are important. I can always learn something from that.

Throughout this project, I looked for something that reminds me of Japan in the United States. Although it takes at least 13 hours to Japan from Utah by airplane, we still have a lot of similarities. I want everyone to know Japanese culture or food. 

Final Project - Jaiden Jensen

The photographs I used for this series all come from my hometown. For Tooele, they are all iconic sighs including the view of the Great Salt Lake. Tooele is a small town just wet of Salt Lake City, and doesn't get enough credit for the things it has to offer. From the high school, to the haunted hotel, these are the things that make Tooele. I wanted to capture that Tooele is very diverse and as you can see, some parts are wealthy, and some are poor. Welcome to Tooele! 

Final Project - Abby Layton

Usually in photography, shadows are seen as a menace. They are seen as a distraction from the original subject. For this series, I decided to focus on the shadows. I focused on the compelling shapes cast by the shadows. I see shadows as something beautiful and interesting. A quote I have always loved is, “We cast a shadow on something wherever we stand.” I love this quote because I truly believe that we have an influence on everything that we come in contact with. In this series of photographs, I tried to capture that important belief.
