Artist Statement
The sky has always been interesting to me. From a young age I was interested in the weather, and for a long time growing up I wanted to be a meteorologist. This series is meant to exemplify this interest, both by showcasing the breathtaking beauty that occurs each day above us, and by looking at the sky as a more metaphorical piece of life.
I’ve always felt the sky has a personality of sorts. Sometimes dark and angry, other times bright and playful. Sometimes monotone, other times full of color. This similarity to humanity is perhaps why throughout history people have felt drawn to the sky and its beauty. It is somehow familiar to us. Ever changing, but ever present just like people around us as we go about our lives.
This series shows the sky over many moments, over many days, over many places. Always different, and always changing. As the series progresses, the clouds clear, revealing the blue sky hiding behind the clouds. A symbol that though on the surface every person on earth is different, beyond these differences, no matter where you go or who you see, we are all human.
