Final Project - Ali Blackham

Permanent Ink

Two years ago I made plans to get my first tattoo and have
been fascinated by the world of permanent ink ever since.

I went to the 15th Annual Salt Lake City International Tattoo
Convention to document the culture and finally get my first
tattoo. While taking pictures of people's tattoos, I wanted to
capture more than just their ink. I hoped to capture the awe
I felt entering this place, and the meaning behind each tattoo.
Making something a permanent part of yourself is no small
thing, and while taking these pictures, I was able to learn the
stories behind the many tattoos covering these people.

"My body is my journal, and my tattoos are my story."
